Sterbai Cory
The Sterbai Cory (Corydoras sterbai) is a popular freshwater fish in the aquarium hobby known for its unique spotted pattern and peaceful temperament. Belonging to the family Callichthyidae, this small catfish is native to the upper Paraguay River basin in South America. Growing to a maximum size of around 2.5 inches (6 cm) in length, the Sterbai Cory has a striking black and white spotted pattern on its body and fins. It is a hardy fish that can tolerate a range of water conditions, but prefers slightly acidic to neutral water with a pH of 6.0-7.5 and a temperature range of 72-78°F (22-26°C).
The Sterbai Cory is a social fish that should be kept in groups of at least six individuals, and is compatible with other small, peaceful species. It is a bottom-dwelling fish that enjoys a substrate of fine sand or gravel and plenty of hiding places such as caves, plants, and driftwood. Overall, the Sterbai Cory is a great addition to a peaceful community aquarium and adds a unique pattern to the bottom of the tank.
